Sarah Najamy, CNM

Sarah Najamy, CNM joined the midwifery staff at the Connecticut Childbirth & Women’s Center in May of 2008. Sarah is a life long resident of Connecticut, born and raised in Danbury.

Sarah’s career in women's healthcare began when she was hired as an LPN in Danbury Hospital’s labor and delivery unit. She was so drawn to helping women and their families that she continued her education on a path to midwifery. She enrolled at Western Connecticut State University and then the University of Bridgeport where she obtained her registered nursing license.

Along the way she continued working as a nurse in labor and delivery units at Park City hospital in Bridgeport and Norwalk hospital. She became a childbirth educator and home birth assistant learning the trade of midwifery. In 1978 Sarah began helping women birth their babies at home. Over the next several years she attended hundreds of births as a traditional midwife.

Over time, Sarah realized she wanted to become a full scope certified nurse midwife. Doing this would allow her to expand her practice to include gynecology and well woman care and in essence affect the lives of more women. A CNM license would also allow her to provide care to women and their families during labor and birth in a hospital setting, again letting her care for a larger number of families.

She graduated in July 1987 from Downstate Medical Center/SUNY in Brooklyn, NY and began her dream of providing quality midwifery care to large numbers of women. She has attended thousands of births in the greater Bridgeport area since 1987 and has been providing personal care for the women of Fairfield County through all stages of life.

In 1996, Sarah was voted " A Women Of Substance" by the Connecticut Post. Her special interests include nutrition, homeopathy, herbal remedies and other natural alternative choices to support women through menstruation, childbirth, perimenopause, menopause, PMS/PMDD. She is available for consultation.

Sarah has two grown children Joshua and Marlee. She lives in Weston, CT and continues her studies of nutrition, herbology and alternative medicines.
