Laser hair removal

This is a modern way to remove effectively unwanted hair for long periods of time. Informed patients should note that honest advertising concerning laser hair removal will specify "permanent hair reduction," never "permanent hair elimination." Lasers are very effective at treating unwanted relatively dark hair. No laser is more than 85-90% effective and no laser can remove fine and light blond to white hair. Modern laser technology targets the hair follicle while keeping the skin safe. The dark pigment in hair, called melanin, absorbs the laser energy, thereby generating heat that actually destroys the hair follicle. At our office we use the Laserscope Lyra-i™ for laser hair removal. This is a very safe laser, even in very dark-skinned patients.
